American English Vocabulary: Dolch Sight Words – Lesson 27

Welcome to American English Vocabulary: Dolch Sight Words – Lesson 27. Improve your English vocabulary, reading, and comprehension skills by studying the Dolch Sight Words, an important vocabulary list which includes some of the most popular, often-used words in the English language. The Dolch Sight Words are organized by reading level, and include Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, and 3rd Grade. International English Learners are encouraged to pronounce each word numerous times, as well as use a translator and an English dictionary in order to increase fluency.

Part 1 – DIRECTIONS: Please read aloud the following words and sentences in English, then translate them and read them into your primary language using the translator on this page.

Is that box too heavy to carry?

His son is a 10-year-old boy.

The boy gave his sister a candy.

Do you like to eat fresh, hot, bread?

You need bread to make a sandwich.

The baker baked some fresh bread for his customers.

Do you have a sister, or a brother?

His brother is called John.

I wish I had a brother.

My favorite dessert is cake.

The vanilla topping on that cake is very sweet.

The groom and bride cut the cake for their guests.

Do you want to buy a sports car?

A Toyota car is very reliable.

If you buy a luxury car, be prepared to pay a lot of money in repairs.

The kitty cat jumped on her mother’s back.

I can’t have a cat because I’m allergic.

Do you have a cat at home?

That chair is very uncomfortable to sit on.

I sometimes sit in my chair for many hours at a time.

I want to buy a comfortable office chair.

Many people prefer to eat chicken over beef.

I love to eat grilled chicken.

If you are scared and you show it, some will call you chicken.

The two children were brother and sister.

How many children live in that small apartment?

Children are innocent and need to be protected.
