What are Dolch Sight Words?

— Dolch sight words are a set of 220 words that are frequently used in textbooks. They include high frequency nouns, verbs, and adjectives. It is important for children to learn these words because they will see them in books and magazines and be able to read and understand what they are reading. Dolch sight words typically fall into the following categories: the alphabet, numbers, colors, shapes, animals, family members, foods and counting objects.
