Lesson 69: Fry Sight Words, 7th Hundred, Part 5

We are now working on the 1,000 Fry Sight Words, a set of high-frequency words that are necessary for American English reading comprehension and communication skills.  Please do your best to follow the directions below, as well as use the website translator to define any of the Fry Sight Words or related sentences you need to know better.  The more you become comfortable with the Fry Sight Words, the more fluent in American English you will become.

When you appreciate everything you have, you are happy.

That man is more than 6 feet tall.

The tall woman is a basketball player.

He went to the electronics section of the store.

Which section of the city do you live in?

The family likes to go fishing together at the lake.

There are lots of fish in the lake.

The kids took iron supplements to be strong.

That fence is strong and made of iron.

The student looked within the cabinet to find the book.

You have to look within your mind to find the answer to that question.

The students used a dictionary to find English definitions.

You can learn many new words from the dictionary.

The boat was moving at very high speed through the harbor.

You can get a big ticket if you speed on the road.

The student can count to 100 in French.

We need to count how many pencils we have.

Letter B is a consonant.

Letter M is a consonant as well.

We need to tell someone about the accident.

The teacher called someone on the phone.

Some people like to sail on their yachts.

You must be careful when you sail.

The two students will remain after class.

The people who remain after the party will help clean up.

Linda bought a beautiful red dress.

You need to dress nicely when you go to church.

I saw a cat jump from the tree.

The girl has a pet cat at home.

She couldn’t write because she didn’t have a pen.

Jose couldn’t speak English well.

You need to use your fingers when you play the guitar.

John hurt his fingers in the car accident.
