STEP 1: Start by choosing a method

One of the most important things to think about when learning English is your method. There are two main ways to learn English vocabulary – spaced repetition and immersion.

Spaced repetition is when you use flashcards to learn new words. This is the method I used in college and I found it extremely effective. You can buy software that will allow you to create your own flashcards or you can use tools like Anki.

Immersion is when you spend lots of time speaking, listening, writing, and reading. The best way to learn vocabulary through immersion is to speak with native speakers as much as possible.

STEP 2: Find resources

There are many websites where you can find useful vocabulary resources. The best way to learn vocabulary is to make it a habit to look for resources every day.

STEP 3: Use software

One of the best ways to learn vocabulary is to use software. If you’ve ever used a computer before, then you know how easy it is to create flashcards.

For free, I recommend Anki. If you’re a Mac user, you can try Anki for Mac.

STEP 4: Learn from others

It’s also very important to learn from others. You can either learn English from other native speakers or you can find resources where you can watch English lessons and learn how native speakers speak and write.
